SYnergia inaugurated its housing unit in the center of the city yesterday, with the main purpose of supporting young people .

The Synergia Association inaugurated yesterday its guest house in Rua do Carmo, right in the center of the city. An accommodation that opens doors for young people who come to Braga to participate in projects of various kinds, such as volunteering. “This was a long dreamed project and the main objective of this house is precisely to support the young people in housing,” said Ricardo Sousa, president of the institution, at the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga.

Highlighting the “boldness” of the Synergia housing project, the Braga’s mayor highlighted the important role and “great capacity for mobilization” that the association has had in promoting various initiatives and youth projects. “This is an excellent example of contribution to regeneration of the city”.

With a strong associative activity in the city and in the municipality, the Synergia Association now takes on this “bold bet” in this housing unit as “one more way to give young people the support they need, also because tourist speculation on accommodation is a price that youth can not afford to pay, “said Ricardo Sousa.
The youth association bracarense invested 20 thousand euros to rehabilitate two T 7’s, at number 61 of Rua do Carmo – making available to the youngsters 47 sleepers.

The inauguration ceremony also served to establish a protocol with the Profitecla school, in the sense that its students dynamise and take care of housing as a way to enrich their learning in the work context.

At the moment, the guest house is inhabited by ten young volunteers from abroad, under the association ADOC and Synergia.

“In substance, this accommodation also serves our interests in relation to the projects in which we are involved, but it is also open to young people who participate in European exchange projects through other institutions and associations,” said Ricardo Sousa, stressing the support four years the associations have had by the Municipality of Braga.

The director of the IPDJ was present at the inauguration, where he praised Synergia’s activity and pointed out the importance of projects aimed at “the sustainability of organizations”.
